TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Washburn Ichabods opened a four-game series with a 3-2 win over Missouri Western on Friday night at Falley Field. The two teams will return to action with a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
Washburn (17-3, 11-2 MIAA) Â got on the board first with a solo run in its first at bat when
Riley Krane scored on a wild pitch after hitting his fourth triple of the season. The Ichabods added two more in the third inning after
Parker Gibson scored on an RBI single by Krane to right. Krane would come around to score on a double to center by
Connor Crimmins.
That would be all the offense Ichabod starting pitcher
Dan Gabler (3-0) would need as he pitched seven innings allowing two earned runs allowing five hits striking out six for the win and
Tanner Kilmer picked up his first save of the season pitching two innings of relief striking out one giving up one hit.
Krane finished with two hits scoring twice and Gibson,
Kyle Carnahan,
David Gauntt, Crimmins and
Tanner Triggs all had hits.
The Ichabods also turned two double plays in the game finishing with nine hits overall while the Griffons (14-8, 9-4 MIAA) recorded six.
