TOPEKA, Kan. -- Washburn athletics has announced three new staff members who will join the Ichabod staff starting the 2015-16 season. 

Matt Hundley - Assistant men's basketball coach
Former Washburn Ichabod basketball player Matt Hundley will return to the Ichabod bench as an assistant coach starting the 2015-16 season after spending the last five seasons as an assistant coach at Barton County Community College. Hundley will lead the Ichabod junior varsity program while assisting on the varsity team as well.

During his four seasons on the Cougar bench, Hundley has helped guide the Cougars to a 117-39 record including two trips to the Region VI Final Four.

Prior to Barton, Hundley spent four seasons at Topeka West High School, with the best of the seasons coming in his final year falling in the Class 5A State Championship game.  For his team's efforts, Hundley was tabbed City Co-Coach of the Year by the Topeka Capital-Journal. 

Prior to his coaching at Topeka West, Hundley was the coach at Lyndon High School for two seasons and started his coaching career fresh out of college as a student assistant and graduate assistant at Washburn for two seasons. He played collegiately at Washburn helping the Ichabods to a national runner-up finish at the 2001 NCAA Division II National Championships. The Ichabods won the MIAA that year as well. 


Kristan Olson - Athletic Trainer
Kristan Olson will begin her first season at Washburn this fall after spending four seasons at Ottawa. 

Before coming to Ottawa, Olson worked for OrthoKansas, P.A. where she assisted with patient rehabilitation and care. She was also in charge of measuring and fitting patients for DME. While at OrthoKansas, P.A. she was a High School ATC, covering sporting events such as wrestling, track, soccer, football, and basketball. Olson also assisted Baker University with practice and game coverage.

Olson did her graduate work at the University of Arkansas with the Razorback Athletic Department, earning her masters in kinesiology in May of 2009. From August of 2007 to May of 2009, she was a graduate assistant athletic trainer. Olson also spent a year as an athletic training intern with U of A. While with the Razorbacks, she covered the men's and women's cross country and track and field programs. Olson assisted with the organization of the SEC and NCAA Championship track meets, assisted with the U of A softball tournaments, helped with summer camps such as volleyball and tennis, and she also covered club gymnastic meets.

Olson received a bachelor of science in education with an emphasis in athletic training from the University of Kansas in May of 2007. At KU, she covered football, women's soccer, women's volleyball, women's rowing, and the KU men's basketball camps.

Todd Stutzman - Assistant women's basketball coach
Stutzman comes to Washburn with six years of experience working with NCAA Division I basketball programs, most recently at Stephen F. Austin as the director operations for the 2014-15 season.  Prior to taking over the operations position, Stutzman was video coordinator with the program. He also served as an interim assistant coach with SFA, during a transitional period. Stutzman will lead the Ichabod women's junior varsity program while assisting on the varsity team as well.

At SFA, Stutzman's duties included coordinating team travel, scheduling practice times and non-conference opponents, planning and implementing yearly budgets for the women's basketball program, working with the Purple Pride Fastbreak Booster Club and oversight of managers, video coordinators and student assists.  He also assisted in recruiting efforts and worked closely with summer basketball camps at the University.  In his video coordinator role, Stutzman handled game film breakdown, scouting and assisting with practice for the Lady Jacks.

Before arriving at SFA, Stutzman spent one year as a graduate assistant manager at the University of Memphis. While there his primary responsibilities included assisting with day-to-day operations, organizing and assisting with film exchange, cutting and editing film, assisting with scouting opponents, helping with practices and supervising summer basketball camps.
Stutzman earned his bachelor's degree in liberal arts and sciences with a minor in business from The University of Kansas in 2011. During his time at KU he was a student manager for the women's basketball program from 2009-11. He completed a summer internship with the KU athletic department in equipment management and was a camp supervisor with Bill Self Basketball Camps in 2011. He also received an associate of arts degree from Hesston College (Kan.) in 2008.
A native of Hesston, Kansas, Stutzman attended Hesston High School. He recently completed his Master's of Interdisciplinary Studies degree from SFA.
