ST. JOSEPH, Mo. -- The Washburn Ichabods dropped both games on the second day of the Missouri Western/Hy-Vee Regional Crossover falling 3-1 to Winona State and 6-3 to Augustana. Washburn will wrap up the three-day, six-game event on Sunday with St. Cloud State and Upper Iowa.
Game 1 - Winona State 3, Washburn 1
The Warriors snapped a scoreless game with three runs in the bottom of the fourth taking the 3-0 lead. Washburn was able to get one back in the top of the sixth inning when
Erica Harper's doubled scored
Jordan Erickson who led off the inning with a double for Washburn's only run of the game.
Kelsee Henry scattered seven hits in the circle in the loss for the Ichabods.
Harper had two hits to lead Washburn and Erickson,
Taylor Kemp,
Dakota Sanders and
Samantha Carson each had one.
Game 2 - Augustana 6, Washburn 3
The Ichabods jumped out to a 2-0 lead after their first at bat when
Taylor Kemp's 2-RBI single drove in
Samantha Carson who reached on a fielder's choice and
Erica Harper who drew a walk.
After the Vikings scored one in the bottom of the first, Washburn scored another in the top of the second after
Dakota Sanders scored on
Jordan Erickson's double, however it would be the last runs the Ichabods would score as they were held to four hits the rest of the way in the 6-3 loss.
Augustana took the lead for good with four runs in the bottom of the sixth to go up six three as they outhit the Ichabods 15 to 8 in the game.
Erickson and Sanders and Harper each had two hits and
Savannah Moore and Kemp all had single hits for the Ichabods.
Ashley Wills took the loss giving up 13 hits and six earned runs.
