TOPEKA, Kan. – The Washburn Ichabod softball team returned to MIAA play with a pair of outstanding pitching performances while racking up a combined 19 hits in a doubleheader sweep over Lincoln winning 7-0 and 6-1. Washburn is scheduled to play host to Lindenwood in a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m. pending weather, stay tuned to wusports.com and @wusports on twitter for updates about any changes.
Game 1 – Washburn 7, Lincoln 0
In the opener, Ichabod starting pitcher
Kelsee Henry improved to 7-10 on the season holding the Blue Tigers without a hit until the top of the seventh inning with two outs as Lincoln's Jordan Lawson broke up the no-hit bid with a double to right center. However Henry retired the next batter for the complete-game one-hit shutout win. Henry struck out four the game and retired the first 10 Blue Tiger batters.
Washburn got on the board in the bottom of the first on a solo home run to left by
Lexie Myers for her first of the season. Washburn added another run in the fourth on an RBI single through the right side scoring
Dakota Sanders who walked.
Megan Stegman also scored on a fielder's choice earlier in the inning.
With the Ichabods (15-22, 3-7 MIAA) leading 3-0, Washburn scored four more times in the sixth inning sending nine to the plate in the frame. After Lacie led off the inning with a single,
Jordan Erickson connected on her fifth home run of the season scoring a pair of runs.
Erica Harper singled to left and then
Savannah Moore followed with a single of her own. After a pitching change,
Ashley Ruder reached on an error to load the bases and the
Lexie Myers drove in two with a single to left putting Washburn up 7-0.
Washburn had a season-high 13 hits in the game with Moore and
Lexie Myers each recording three hits and Erickson and Harper each recorded two.
Game 2 – Washburn 6, Lincoln 1

Jordan Erickson who was hit leading off the inning for Washburn.
After the Blue Tigers (3-21, 0-4 MIAA) came back with a solo run in the top of the second, neither team scored run Washburn scored three times in the fifth capped by a three-run shot by
Erica Harper, her seventh of the season, scoring Erickson who singled and
Samantha Carson who reached on an error.
Washburn added another run in the sixth on a solo home run by
Lacie Myers with her second home run of the season.
Ashley Wills (7-5) allowed only two hits in the game retiring 19 of the final 21 batters for the Blue Tigers with two strikeouts.
Jordan Erickson was 4 for 5 in the doubleheader with three runs scored and three RBI while
Erica Harper was 4 for 7 along with Harper driving in three runs.
Lexie Myers also drove in three runs in the games as Washburn hit .339 overall holding the Blue Tigers to a .065 batting average in the doubleheader.
