WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- The Washburn Ichabod softball team picked up a split of an MIAA doubleheader at Central Missouri winning game one 1-0 before falling in the second game 10-3. Washburn returns to the field on Saturday with another conference clash at Southwest Baptist.
Game 1 - Washburn 1, Central Missouri 0
Lexi Crabtree recorded a five-hit shutout over the Jennies as a bases loaded walk in the third inning was the difference in the 1-0 Ichabod win.
The only run of the game came in the top of the third inning when
Lexie Myers drew a bases loaded walk scoring
Taylor Kemp who singled in the inning as one of three-straight singles by
Erica Harper, Kemp and
Savannah Moore to lead the bases. After a fielder's choice, Myers drew the walk for the game-winning run.
Crabtree, who improved to 4-4 on the season pitched out of a bases loaded jam in the bottom of the seventh striking out the final out for the win. Crabtree has gone 4-1 with a 1.08 ERA in her last five starts throwing four complete games with three shutouts.
Game 2 - Central Missouri 10, Washburn 3
The Jennies took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first before
Dakota Sanders tied the score with a home run in the second inning. After the Jennies added another run in the bottom of the second, Washburn came back with one of its own on an RBI single by
Erica Harper schoring
Megan Stegman who singled and then moved to second on a wild pitch.
However UCM came back with three runs in the third and three unearned runs in the fourth adding two more unearned runs in the fifth to go up 10-3.
Washburn got one run in the top of the fifth on a RBI single by
Savannah Moore scoring Stegman who reached after being hit by a pitch.
Kelsee Henry took the loss allowing five earned runs with two strikeouts.
The Jennies took advantage of four errors in the game.
