Ichabods stumble on the road at Missouri Western

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. -- The Washburn Ichabod softball team was swept in an MIAA doubleheader in a pair of two-run losses at Missouri Western falling 5-3 and 3-1 on Friday. The Ichabods will wrap up the regular season at Northwest Missouri on Saturday.

Game 1 - MWSU 5, WU 3
Washburn struck first in the top of the second on a sac fly by Lacie Myers  scoring Savannah Moore who doubled to lead off the inning.

Missouri Western cam back with two in the bottom of the third to take a 2-1 lead and added two more in the fourth going up 4-1.

In the top of the fifth, the Ichabods took advantage of a Griffon error scoring two unearned runs. The first came on a fielder's choice by Erica Harper scoring Jordan Erickson who reached on a walk and then Savannah Moore's sac fly foul out scored Megan Stegman who reached on a single to center.

The Griffons added a run in the sixth for the final run of the game and the 5-3 win.

Lexi Crabtree gave up five earned runs striking out six with four walks falling to 4-6 on the season.

Game 2 - MWSU 3, WU 1
The Griffons took a 1-0 lead with a lead off home run by Morgan Ratthman. 
Washburn tied the score at 1-1 in the third on a RBI double by Jordan Erickson which scored Maddie Erickson after a walk and a swipe of second base.

The Griffons broke the game open with a two-out error by the Ichabods allowing two unearned runs in the bottom of the sixth sending Western to a 3-1 win earning the sweep.

Kelsee Henry allowed one earned run with a strikeout scattering five hits.

Erickson, Stegman and Lacie Myers all had hits for the Ichabods.

Washburn falls to 23-30 on the season and 10-14 in the MIAA. Missouri Western goes to 35-15 and 15-9 overall in league place.
