ROME, Ga. -- Washburn duo
Alejandro Valarezo Plaza and
Paul Haase won their final match at the National ITA Cup on Saturday and claimed the title of third in the nation in Division II men's doubles.
Washburn took the court against Andrew Donayre and Juan Ortiz Couder from Embry-Riddle in the third-place match. Valarezo Plaza and Haase rolled to a straight set victory, winning the match 6-3, 6-4.
For the first time in program history, both the men's and women's teams took third place at the national tournament as Logan Morrissey and Alexis Czapinski also won their match on Saturday.
This concludes a successful fall season for the Ichabods. Washburn tennis will return in February for the spring season.
