Match Information - MIAA Tournament
- Washburn Soccer (7-9-2, 3-6-2 MIAA) advanced as one of eight teams to play in the MIAA postseason.
- Washburn, the No. 8 seed, will take on the top seed in the tournament and No. 5 team in the nation Central Oklahoma (17-1, 10-1 MIAA) in the first round.
- The match is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 31 in Edmond, Okla., with a 7 p.m. start.
Last Week
- The Ichabods dropped two tough matches last weekend to finish out the regular season.
- Washburn hosted its final home match of the season against the Emporia State Hornets on Friday, Oct. 26.
- The Hornets got on the board in the 34th minute to take a 1-0 lead into half time.
- In the 66th minute, a foul committed by the Ichabods set up a penalty kick for the visitors.
- The Hornets converted the PK on their second chance, after it was ruled Washburn had encroached in on the box for the first attempt.
- The match ended with a 2-0 advantage for Emporia State.
- ESU outshot WU 13-7 and led in shots on goal 5-2.
- Josie Rimmer took both SOG for the Ichabods.
- In the regular season finale against Fort Hays State, both teams were held scoreless for 83 minutes until the Tigers broke through with a header goal to win 1-0.
- FHSU led in shot attempts, 8-6. They also held the advantage on shots on goal, 4-3.

- Olivia Grasso leads the team with six goals this season.
- Freshman Josie Rimmer is close behind with five goals, two of which were match-winning.
- Rimmer has also handed out three assists on the year which puts her in a tie for second-most on the team with Mackenzie Heiman.
- Heiman has netted four goals of her own.
- Tera Lynch leads the team in assists with seven on the season and 10 in her career.
- Her seven assists surpass the all-time total for a sophomore in a single season.
- Lynch has also scored twice for the Ichabods.
- Kelsi Smith, Paige Swanson, Ellie Karloff, Ryanne Serrone-Brown, Jasmine Palmer, and Cassidy Meadows have all added a goal to Washburn's score total this season.
The MIAA Tournament
- The top-eight of 12 women's soccer teams in the MIAA advanced to the postseason conference tournament.
- All four quarterfinal matches will be played on Wednesday, Oct. 31.
- In addition to No. 8 seeded Washburn playing the No. 1 seed Central Oklahoma, the No. 2 seed Central Missouri will host No. 7 Lindenwood.
- No. 6 Northeastern State travels to Emporia, Kan., to take on No. 3 Emporia State.
- Battling it out in Hays, Kan., will be the No. 4 seed Fort Hays State and No. 5 Missouri Western.
- The four teams that advance to the semifinal round will play at the highest remaining seed's location on Friday, Nov. 2.
- Likewise, the highest remaining seed will host the final rounds on Sunday, Nov. 3.
'Bods and Ends
- Washburn advances to the MIAA Tournament for the sixth time in program history and the fourth consecutive season.
- As the No. 6 seed last season, Washburn shutout No. 3 Northeastern State 1-0 in the first round.
- The Ichabods then fell to Missouri Western in the semifinals, 1-0.
- Mackenzie Heiman moved into seventh all-time in minutes played in a Washburn uniform with 5,882 minutes. She needs 43 minutes to move up to sixth on the list.
- Heiman, alongside fellow seniors Cassidy Meadows, Kelsi Smith, Paige Swanson, Ellie Karloff, Camille Denis, and Lexi Montgomery played their final home match of their careers last Friday.
- Swanson and Karloff have appeared in all 76 matches that Washburn soccer has played over the past four years.
Scouting the Opponents
Central Oklahoma Bronchos
Series history: In the matchup between both teams earlier this season, the Bronchos defeated the Ichabods 7-1. Washburn is 1-7-1 against Central Oklahoma and are 0-4 when playing away in Edmond, Okla.
Scouting report: Central Oklahoma is ranked fifth in the nation and boasts the top-scorer in the nation as well as the best goalkeeper in the conference. The Bronchos lost their first game of the season last Friday 2-1 to Northeastern State, but bounced back against Missouri Southern to win 2-1. UCO is 17-1 overall and 10-1 in the MIAA.
Katie Killion has been an offensive force all season and leads the team and all of Division II in goals scored, with 24. She has taken 94 shots with 57 of them on net. Killion has given out eight assists, the second-most on the team behind Kelsie Easton's nine. Asha Haile has scored 13 times for the Bronchos. The UCO offense has outscored its opponents 61-7.
While UCO has placed three different keepers in goal during the season, Kelsi Gibson has spent the majority of time in that role. The freshman has faced 77 shots and held on for 32 saves while posting nine shut out victories. She holds a 14-1 record and has allowed just four goals all season for a .889 save percentage and has the fifth-lowest goals against average percentage in the nation at 0.29.
