- After going an undefeated 9-0 in the month of March, the No. 5 Washburn women's tennis team (14-1, 5-0 MIAA) looks to have continued success in April starting with William Jewell (6-9, 0-1 GLVC) on Tuesday, April 2.
- The match against the Cardinals is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Washburn Tennis Complex.

- The Ichabods extended their winning streak to nine matches and stay perfect in conference play after their 5-2 win over Emporia State on March 31.
- Washburn swept the board in doubles and took an early 1-0 lead.Â
- At court No. 1, Alexis Czapinski and Logan Morrissey won 6-4.Â
- The duo of Svea Crohn and Jacqueline Engelbrecht secured the doubles point with their 6-3 decision at the No. 2 slot.Â
- Maria Soler Valverde and Kinsey Fields won a 7-6 (7-5) battle to complete the doubles action.
- The Ichabods carried their momentum into singles, where they won the first four matches in straight sets and sealed the team victory.Â

- At fifth in the order, Crohn rolled to a 6-3, 6-2 win.Â
- For the fifth-straight match, Soler Valverde put the match away for the Ichabods at No. 4 singles with her 6-3, 6-3 triumph.Â
- Engelbrecht completed the scoring for Washburn at the top of the lineup, winning 6-4, 6-3.
- Washburn moved to 14-1 (5-0 MIAA) while Emporia State fell to 6-5 (3-2 MIAA).

William Jewell Cardinals
- The Cardinals went 7-14 (2-4 GLVC) last season and are off to a 6-9 (0-1 GLVC) start to the 2018-19 campaign.
- William Jewell returns seven players from last season.
- In January 2019, Doug Elly was tabbed as the new head coach for William Jewell's men's and women's teams.
- The Cardinals are on a two match losing streak and were last swept 7-0 by Arkansas-Fort Smith on March 26.
- The Ichabods lead the all-time series against William Jewell, 4-1, and have shut out the Cardinals in the last three matches.
Ichabods in the Rankings …
- Washburn moved up three places in the latest ITA national rankings (March 27) to No. 5 in Division II.
- Three Ichabods moved up in the rankings and are all in the top-45.
- Czapinski went from No. 10 to fourth in women's singles.
- Also ranked in singles, Engelbrecht checks in at No. 28 and Soler Valverde is No. 42.
- In doubles, Czapinski and Morrissey are ranked fourth in the nation.
- As a team, the Ichabods are ranked No. 6 in the Central Region.
- Czapinski/Morrissey hold down the top doubles ranking in the Central Region.Â
- Individually, Engelbrecht is ranked fouth in the region and 28th in the nation.
- Czapinski also joins the region's top-10 list at No. 9 in women's singles.

'Bods and ends …
- Czapinski is still undefeated at No. 2 singles with a record of 15-0. Including the fall season, she is 19-2.
- She and doubles partner, Morrissey, are one win away from notching 20 victories overall this season. They are 11-4 in the regular season at No. 1 doubles.
- Soler Valverde is a perfect 10-0 when playing at the No. 4 slot. She is 11-2 in singles action this spring.
- She has won 10 of the last 11 matches, with the one match being unfinished against Air Force Academy.
- Engelbrecht is one victory away from reaching her 10th No. 1 singles win.
- Morrissey won her 60th career doubles match against Emporia State.
Coach Lance Lysaught …
- is in his fifth season as the head coach of the Washburn men's and women's tennis teams.
- has coached the Washburn women to a 51-45 overall record and is 19-22 in MIAA matches.
- led the Ichabod men to the NCAA Tournament quarterfinal round in 2018, the first time the program had ever advanced beyond the national round of 16.
- was tabbed to start up the men's and women's tennis programs at Ottawa University in 2012 where he was the head coach for two seasons.
- is a former Washburn student-athlete who played tennis for the Ichabods from 1987-91.
- was a two-time District 10 singles champion and an NAIA national qualifier in both singles and doubles over his tenure as a player.
