First Serve
- It is Washburn's third and fourth matches of an eight-match road schedule
- The Ichabods do not return home for almost a month
- The Ichabods have competed against Illinois-Springfield just once in program history. Washburn defeated the Prairie Stars on the road, 8-1, back in April 2016
- Washburn has a 5-10 record when playing Drury. The Ichabods are 3-10 in away matches
- However, the Ichabods grabbed a tight win against the Panthers in February 2021, 4-3. Washburn winning two straight has not happened in the series since 1999

2022 Ichabods
- Junior Svea Crohn has an overall singles record of 38-26 and a doubles record of 47-15. She is a four-time All-MIAA member, three-time MIAA Academic Honor Roll member and received MIAA and ITA Scholar-Athlete honors in 2021
- Crohn tied Washburn's single-season doubles winning percentage mark of .895 last season
- Kinsey Fields has a career singles record of 16-10 and 35-16 doubles record in a little over 3 seasons. She has earned All-MIAA Honorable Mention at No. 2 doubles, MIAA Academic Honor Roll three times and was an MIAA Scholar-Athlete
- Sydnee Foster in her third year holds a 9-6 singles record and 5-5 in doubles action. She is a two-time MIAA Academic Honor Roll, an ITA Scholar-Athlete and earned the Academic Excellence award
- Jung has only recorded a loss in one dual single as an Ichabods. Her only loss was to #5 Central Oklahoma's Blythe Buntrock last season. She is 23-2 overall in singles and 16-5 in doubles. She also earned All-MIAA Second Team at No. 5 singles and No. 2 doubles in 2021
- Lynn is 19-4 in singles and 6-9 in doubles at Washburn. She is a two-time MIAA Academic Honor Roll member and Scholar-Athlete
- Isabella Martensson starts her Washburn career 2-4 in singles play and 4-1 in doubles
- Freshman Issabella Pensavalle comes from Jenks High School where she placed fourth in the state her freshman year. She is 3-1 in singles and 1-0 in doubles to begin her career
- Freshman Lara Schmid transferred from St. Edward's University in Texas after the tennis program was eliminated in 2020. Schmid's first year was cut short due to COVID-19, but she still went undefeated in singles with five wins and 3-2 in doubles action
- Schmid dominates from the No. 3 spot as she is 4-0 and outscoring her opponents 24-8 in the first set. She has a 1-1 singles record and 2-0 doubles record with Washburn
- Marta Torres has a 16-10 singles record, and a 15-8 doubles record in over two seasons. She was All-MIAA honorable mention at No.6 singles and No. 1 doubles last season and was an ITA Scholar-Athlete

- Jung jumped to second on Washburn's all-time career singles winning percentage list (min. 20 wins). She is 23-2 (.920) in singles play which is only behind Madeline Hill's 36-2 singles record

- The Ichabods continue on their eight-match road trip where they will head to Missouri, Texas, and California

ISSA BEST
- Issabella Pensavalle began her Washburn career going 1-1 in the ITA Regional Tournament
- Pensavalle started the Ichabods' first match hosting William Jewell and won at No. 5 singles. She got her second dual singles win on Sunday again against the Cardinals at the No .5 spot
- She competed for the first time in doubles on Sunday and got her first career doubles win
- She is 3-1 in singles and 1-0 in doubles play
STRONG STARTS CONTINUE
- Washburn has secured the doubles point in its last six matches dating back to last season
- The Ichabods in the last two seasons, under Coach Ronning, earned the doubles point 21 times out of 23 matches
- The Ichabods, despite losing their first match to No. 2 Indianapolis, took the doubles point after winning from No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. They did it again against Williams Jewell
- No. 1 and No. 2 doubles have not lost a match this season
Scouting the Prairie Stars
- The Prairie Stars went 10-4 in 2020-21 and 4-2 in their conference. UIS started strong winning six of their first seven matches, then won four of their last six. Their season would end losing in the first round of the GLVC Championships to Missouri-St. Louis
- Illinois-Springfield's 2020-21 roster was young but small so they lost just one senior but brought back just three players. IUS will see three freshmen and a transfer join
- The only Stars' player not returning is senior, Carol Quevedo. She went 12-3 in singles and 14-2 in doubles which was a school season record for doubles winning percentage. Most of her doubles wins came with returning sophomore Franca Bucco
- Bucco was a stand-out first-year player with a singles record of 11-5 and a 13-3 doubles record. She earned All-GLVC honors
- Junior Neha Mokhasi will also be returning after going 13-3 in singles and 11-4 in doubles last season. She already ranks in the top-10 in UIS history in career singles and doubles victories.
- Mokhasi's doubles partner Sina Skjelstad is the final returner. She was 7-6 in singles and 10-3 in doubles
- Wingate transfer, Riann Hsu, joins the squad as a junior. At Wingate, Hsu held a 34-11 overall record which included a 28-11 record in singles play. She also helped Wingate win two conference championships and NCAA tournament appearances
- Freshman Kamila Kalinowska was a three-time all-state player at Lockport High School. She helped her team win two conference and sectional championships. Kalinowska is already 4-1 in singles this season
- Freshman Piper Schrepferman is a four-time all-state player and helped Kaneland High School win four conference championships and two sectional championships. Schrepferman is 3-2 in singles and 1-3 in doubles this season
Prairie Stars Head Coach Raul Quevedo
- Raul Quevedo is entering his third year coaching as the Prairie Stars head men's and women's tennis coach
- Quevedo has a 13-7 women's record and 16-6 men's record
- He led UIS men's program to its first NCAA Tournament bid in 2021
- Quevedo came to UIS in 2017 as an assistant coach
- He played competitive tennis in Spain for over 10 years. He was ranked in the top-25 in U18 tennis and won over 20 junior tournaments
- He also played four seasons at Young Harris College and set a program record with 115 total wins
Scouting the Panthers
- The Panthers went 12-5 and 4-2 in their conference during their 2020-21 season. Drury lost their first match then went on a six-match winning streak. They finished the season going 5-3 and earned a GLVC tournament bid
- Drury's 2021-22 roster consists of seven of their ten players last season in addition to three incoming freshman
- All seven returners were key pieces to last seasons' roster. It includes five juniors, two seniors and six who had double-digit singles wins in 2020-21
- Senior Viktoriya Zheleva went 11-4 from No. 3 in the lineup and 11-5 in doubles with three different partners. Zheleva was ranked No. 18 in the Midwest Region and No. 33 nationally for singles
- The other senior Nastasia Jedrychowski was 10-6 in singles from No. 1 and 2 and 11-4 in doubles from the No. 1
- Jedrychowski's partner, Alma Abazi had a 12-2 singles record (9-0 from No. 2)
- Juniors Maria De la Torre, Kseniia Eremina, Lily Gardner, and Clara Kuehnle will also be coming back for another season
- De la Torre went 10-0 in singles mostly from No. 6 and 13-2 in doubles with two partners
- Eremina was 11-4 in singles and 12-5 in doubles with two partners. Kuehnle was 12-2 in singles play and 7-2 in doubles play
- Gardner did not compete last season but in high school placed second in doubles at individual districts and third in doubles at Individuals
Panthers Head Coach Jarrod Smith
- Jarrod Smith will enter his 16th year as head coach of the Drury women's team
- Smith enters 2021 with the fourth-best winning percentage among active coaches in women's tennis and is sixth-best all-time in NCAA Division II with a mark of .812
- His 285-66 record is 14th most in Division II
- The women's team have won eight GLVC championships and 14 national tournament appearances
- Smith is an eight-time winner of the GLVC's Coach of the Year and has been named ITA Regional Coach of the Year five times
- He also played collegiately at Northwest Missouri State for four seasons and earned six MIAA championships (three singles, three doubles). He also was a First-Team All-MIAA selection each season

- The Ichabods sit at No. 17 in the Division 2 Men's ITA Preseason Coaches' Poll released on January 19
- Washburn women's tennis were picked second in the MIAA Preseason Poll released on Feb. 1
