BOLIVAR, Mo. -- Washburn hits the road for two matches in Bolivar, Mo. against Southern Arkansas and Harding on April 2 and April 3.
First Serve
- The women's team defeated Rockhurst, 6-1, for the first three match win streak of the season
- The women's team is tied with Northwest Missouri and Missouri Western at the top of the MIAA standings
- The Ichabods have played the Muleriders twice in program history and have won both times. Washburn last played SAU in April 2021
- Washbrun women have competed against Harding just one time in a 5-2 win back in March 2019

2022 Ichabods
- Junior Svea Crohn has an overall singles record of 42-31 and a doubles record of 57-17. She is a four-time All-MIAA member, three-time MIAA Academic Honor Roll member and received MIAA and ITA Scholar-Athlete honors in 2021
- Crohn tied Washburn's single-season doubles winning percentage mark of .895 last season
- Kinsey Fields has a career singles record of 18-11 and 42-19 doubles record in a little over 3 seasons. She has earned All-MIAA Honorable Mention at No. 2 doubles, MIAA Academic Honor Roll three times and was an MIAA Scholar-Athlete
- Sydnee Foster in her third year holds a 9-6 singles record and 6-5 in doubles action. She is a two-time MIAA Academic Honor Roll, an ITA Scholar-Athlete and earned the Academic Excellence award
- Maja Jung is 29-6 overall in singles and 23-8 in doubles. She also earned All-MIAA Second Team at No. 5 singles and No. 2 doubles in 2021
- Cadence Lynn is 24-17 in singles and 7-9 in doubles at Washburn. She is a two-time MIAA Academic Honor Roll member and Scholar-Athlete
- Isabella Martensson starts her Washburn career 9-6 in doubles play
- Freshman Issabella Pensavalle comes from Jenks High School where she placed fourth in the state her freshman year. She is 4-2 in singles and 1-0 in doubles to begin her career
- St. Edward's transfer Lara Schmid is 5-6 in singles play and 7-5 in doubles action as an Ichabod
- Marta Torres has a 21-16 singles record, and a 24-9 doubles record in less than two seasons. She was All-MIAA honorable mention at No. 6 singles and No. 1 doubles last season and was an ITA Scholar-Athlete

BACK ON THE ROAD
- The Ichabods start a six-match road trip consisting of four confernce matches, two neutral games and two ranked opponent
- Washburn has struggled on road/neutral matches. The Ichabods are 2-6 in road/nuetral matches
Scouting the Muleriders
- Southern Arkansas went 6-13 last and are 2-10 this season. The Muleriders five ranked opponents including three in the top-15
- The Muleriders returned nine of ten players in adition to two transfers and a freshman
- Southern Arkansas will miss Angela Vargas. She played 93 career matches for a 62-31 record. Vargas is top three in six program records
- Junior Lena Milosevic comes back already the program leader in matches played, matches won, and win percentage. She has a career 66-30 record (42-11 singles, 24-19 doubles)
- Serena Gill also returns as the leader in all-time doubles win percentage (.667)
- After missing the 2020-21 season, Simone Simas makes a reappearance. She has an overall record of 46-28 and has the highest all-time singles win percentage (.821). Simas earned All-GAC First Team in 2019
- Northwestern State transfer, Greta Wallin, joins Southern Arkansas after going 0-6 in singles and 2-7 in doubles her freshmen year
- Wallin's doubles partner freshman Inna Serukhova looks to make an impact as well
Muleriders Head Coach Greg Owen
- Greg Owen enters his fourth spring season as the head women's men's tennis coach
- Owen came to SAU from Seward County CC where he coached two full seasons for both men and women
- He captured two men's and one women's NJCAA Region VI Championships
- Prior to Seward, Owen was the head tennis coach at Midlothian High School for six years
- Owen played collegiately for a season at Seminole State College and then his final seasons at GAC-rival Southeastern Oklahoma State
Scouting the Bisons
- The Bisons posted a 16-3 record in 2020-21 and have continued to win this year with a 12-4 mark.
- No. 48 Harding brought back nine players and replaced the three losses with two transfers
- The Bison lost two players with double digit singles and doubles wins
- Rylie Cox Evans went 12-5 at No. 1 singles adn 12-4 in doubles. Evans was First Team All-GAC and GAC Newcomer of the year in 2019
- Hana Folse's 10-5 singles record and 13-4 doubles record will also be missed. Folse was named All-GAC Second Team in 2019
- Seniors Allison, Emily, and Lindy Carpenter are all coming back for their final seasons
- A. Carpenter had a stellar last year, going 14-1 in singles and 10-3 in doubles mostly with Folse. She is 13-8 in singles and 16-11 in doubles this year
- Evans' doubles partner, E. Carpenter went 7-10 in singles and 14-4 in doubles last year. She is 16-9 in singles and 11-14 in doubles during 2021-22
- L. Carpenter went 10-5 in singles and 14-3 in doubles with sophomore Romane Britt. She is 17-8 in singles and 17-11 in doubles this season
- Britt also had an outstanding 2020-21 season. She lead the team posting a 15-2 singles record and a 14-3 doubles record. Britt leads the team against this year with 18 singles wins and 16 doubles wins
- Sacramento State transfer Grace Dodd has taken over the No. 1 spot and is 12-12 in singles. She is also 15-11 at No. 1 doubles
- Dodd and A. Carpenter are ranked No. 41 in doubles
- West Alabama transfer Jing Jing Yang is 12-8 in singles and 7-9 in doubles
Bisons Head Coach David Redding
- David Redding is in his eighth season as head men's and women's tennis coach
- The men's team is 78-45 under Redding
- Redding led the men's team to tie for the MIAA-South regular season championship and qualifying for NCAA Central Region Tournament
- Before Harding, He was the director of tennis at the Northwood Club since 1989 and served as the assistant tennis professional at the club from 1984-1989
- Redding was a graduate assistant at Southern Methodist from 1983-1985
- Redding was a member of the Harding tennis team from 1979-83. He earned multiple all-district and all-conference honors and earned the 1983 NAIA Arthur Ashe Award for Leadership and Sportsmanship
- He was inducted into the Harding Athletics Hall of Fame in 1990
Ichabods IN the Rankings
- The Ichabods dropped out of the ITA DII Women's National Team Rankings, released on March 10
- Torres is ranked No. 6 in the Central Region
- Fields and Jung returned to the ITA Doubles Rankings at No. 39
