LEXINGTON, Ky. – The American Volleyball Coaches Association announced the academic awards for the 2021-22 season and Washburn Volleyball earned the Team Academic Award and Honor Roll distinction after finishing in the top 20% of team grade point averages in all of Division II. The Ichabods recorded a 3.66 GPA in the fall semester and finished the academic year with a cumulative 3.65 GPA.
The Team Academic Award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade point average on a 4.0 scale. There were more than 1,200 collegiate and high school teams who received the AVCA Academic Award for the 2021-22 season.
Washburn joined eight other MIAA schools on the list as 147 total teams from Division II received recognition. The Ichabods were also one of 29 Division II teams to be named to the AVCA Honor Roll. The complete awards list can be found

The Ichabods begin the 2022 campaign with eight matches on the road starting with four at the UNK Fall Classic in Kearney, Neb. on Aug. 26-27.
