LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Washburn volleyball team comes in ranked No. 21in the latest AVCA Division II Coaches Poll released this afternoon. The Ichabods (13-4, 7-3 MIAA) received 265 total points in the poll.
Last week Washburn swept a pair of midweek matchups, defeating Emporia State in Emporia on Tuesday and defeating Newman at home on Thursday.
Wayne State [NE] remains in the top spot for a fifth straight week with a 19-1 record. They received 43 of 47 first place votes with No. 2 ranked Concordia – St. Paul and No. 3 Tampa each receiving one vote and No. 4 Missouri – St. Louis receiving the final two votes.
Three MIAA teams appear in the poll this week with Nebraska-Kearney landing at No. 8 and Central Oklahoma at No. 19. Both the Central Missouri and Northwest Missouri State are receiving votes.
The Ichabods have a busy week of conference action with three matches beginning Tuesday on the road against the No. 8 Lopers and finishing the week at home on Friday and Saturday against UCM and Missouri Southern respectively.
