PITTSBURG, Kan. – The 2022-23 MIAA Indoor championships got underway on Friday with the multi-events. Naiuri Krein and Taylor Grasser represented the Washburn women's track and field team in the pentathlon and both recorded personal-bests during the day.
 
In her first season at Washburn, Krein finished 10^th overall in the pentathlon with an NCAA provisional score of 3455 points. She placed second in the shot put with a season-best mark of 11.97m. She also had a top-10 finish in the 800m, finishing in a personal-best time of 2:25.39.
 
Taylor Grasser finished 14th in the pentathlon with 2621 points. She ran a personal-best 9.64 in the 60m hurdles.
 
Both of Washburn's men's and women's track and field teams will return to action on Saturday for day two of the MIAA championships.
