PITTSBURG, Kan. – The 2022-23 MIAA Indoor championships got underway on Friday with the multi-events.
Naiuri Krein and
Taylor Grasser represented the Washburn women's track and field team in the pentathlon and both recorded personal-bests during the day.
In her first season at Washburn, Krein finished 10
th overall in the pentathlon with an NCAA provisional score of 3455 points. She placed second in the shot put with a season-best mark of 11.97m. She also had a top-10 finish in the 800m, finishing in a personal-best time of 2:25.39.
Taylor Grasser finished 14th in the pentathlon with 2621 points. She ran a personal-best 9.64 in the 60m hurdles.
Both of Washburn's men's and women's track and field teams will return to action on Saturday for day two of the MIAA championships.
