Ichabod women's track and field team adds points on 2nd day of MIAA Championships

PITTSBURG, Kan. – The Washburn Ichabod women's track and field team finished off the second day of action at the MIAA Outdoor Championships, highlighted by a runner-up finish and All-MIAA honors for Naiuri Krein in the heptathlon, along with multiple qualifiers, point-scoring efforts and personal records. The Ichabods are in sixth, entering the final day of action, two points out of fourth.

Krein puts together a strong two-day performance in the heptathlon to finish second overall with 5,184 points, earning all-MIAA honors, eight team points and an NCAA provisional mark. Krein opened the event with a second-place finish in the 100m hurdles in a time of 14.80 before placing second in the high jump at 1.60m. Krein won the shot put at 12.95m and followed that up with a third-place finish in the 200m in 25.87. Krein added a first-place effort in the javelin at 42.31m, was eighth in the long jump at 5.42m and ended the competition by finishing second in the 800 meters in a time 2:22.68. With the addition of her eight team points, Krein became the top point scorer in Washburn's program history at the MIAA Outdoor Championships moving her total to 42.5 points overall.

In the women's 800m preliminaries, Lexie Fontaine advanced to the finals with a fourth-place run in 2:12.96, while Grace Hovey turned in a personal-best time of 2:22.89 to place 22nd.

Washburn was also represented in the 100m hurdles prelims, with Krein placing 11th in 15.11, Addison Webster taking 16th in 15.67 and Kynleigh Chard placing 17th in 16.11.

The Ichabods earned points in the 3,000m steeplechase, led by Ebba Wetterberg's sixth-place finish in a personal-best time of 11:22.61 scoring three points. Riley Ammons followed with a ninth-place and personal-best time of 11:34.72, while Cheyenne Hittle added a personal record at 11:46.83 to finish 11th.

Washburn picked up points in the high jump as Molly Worley cleared a personal-best 1.66m to place fifth to score 3.5 points and Shaydin Myers finished 14th at 1.56m.
