PITTSBURG, Kan. – The Washburn women's team finished garnered six top-10 finishes on the final day at MIAA Track and Field championships on Sunday afternoon and finished seventh overall as a team with 44.33 points. The Ichabods will now await the announcements for the NCAA National Championships which will take place in Virginia Beach, Va. March 10-11.
Isabella Hohl had a standout day as she placed second in the 60m dash to earn eight points for the Ichabods and tied the MIAA indoor championships record time of 7.37 that was set in 2020. In the race alongside Hohl, Shenese Walker of Lincoln set the new conference championship record running a 7.32 for first-place. Hohl's program-record time bested her previous fastest time that she set in the 60m preliminaries yesterday, clocking a time of 7.39.
Hohl also set a program record and NCAA provisional time in the 200m as she finished fifth with a time of 24.39.
Hohl returned to the track one more time as she anchored the 4x400 relay team that was also comprised of
Kereser Augustin,
Ashley Heavner, and
Katelyn Jones. The quartet set an NCAA provisional time of 3:49.31 and placed seventh.
Two Ichabods earned team points in the shot put as
Ilaria Villa placed fourth with a throw of 13.56m and
Shanice Hutson was eighth with a mark of 13.29m
In the one mile run,
Lily Johnson had the fourth-best time at 5:00.80.
Pittsburg State won the conference team title with 183 points. Northwest Missouri was second with 130 and Missouri Southern was third with 87.66 points.
