TOPEKA, Kan. – The Washburn Ichabod men's track and field team wrapped up its first meet of the 2024 calendar year by recording two NCAA provisional marks with two school records adding 24 personal best. Overall the Ichabods finished third with 55.5 points for a team total. Missouri Southern finished first with 72 and Central Arkansas was second with 58 team points. The Ichabods will be back in action next weekend at the Pittsburg State Invitational.
 
Connor Last won the long jump with an NCAA provisional mark of  7.35m (24-01.50).
 
In the weight throw, Braden Rose finished second, but set the school record in the event with a mark of 21.18m (69-06.00) breaking the school record by 3-feet-1 inch. The mark was also an NCAA provisional mark. His throw is the second-best mark in the NCAA D2 ranks this season.
 
The Ichabods went third, fourth and fifth in the high jump invite as Matthew Heckman, Jordan Dale and Alessandro Di Gregorio all cleared 2.01m (6-07.00).
 
Other top-five finishes included Wyatt Heiman (4^th - 200m), Donald Kibet (5^th – 3000), Logan Schwab (4^th – pole vault).
