MARYVILLE, Mo. – After two days of the 2024 MIAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships the Washburn Ichabod men's squad is in third place entering the final day of action on Sunday.
In the final event of the night on day two, the Ichabods picked up 19 of their 42 total points in the 10,000m run as
Donald Kibet won the individual championship in an NCAA provisional time of 29:47.12 and
David Kibet placed third in a time of 30:05.14 gaining six team points. Finishing third was
Tommy Roehl in a personal best time of 30:54.54 tallying three team points.
Braden Rose earned 14 team points by himself after taking third in the hammer throw with a school-record mark of 65.59m (215-02) breaking his own school-record mark by nearly six feet. He then picked up six more team points with a third-place finish in the discus with a throw of 52.50m (172-03) earning six team points. With his 14 points in this outdoor championship, Rose became Washburn's all-time leader in points scored at the MIAA Outdoor Championships moving his total to 42 total points passing Jacob Klemz's total of 30 career points scored.
Josh Hopkins scored five points in the long jump after his fourth-place finish with a jump of 7.36m (24-01.75) for an NCAA provisional mark.
Pau Borillo-Febrer finished fifth in the decathlon with a personal best point total of 6,495 for a new personal best scoring four team points.
Wyatt Heiman qualified for Sunday finals in both the 100m and the 200m after finishing sixth in both events after times of 10.44 in the 100m and 21.42 in the 200m.
Tyler Mooney also advanced to Sunday's final in the 200m with a third-place finish in the prelims in a personal-best time of 21.37.
Jake Muller finished eighth in the 400m hurdles in a time of 53.96 to advance to the finals on Sunday.
