KEARNEY, Neb. – The Washburn Ichabod women's golf team recorded the best finish in its young history as the Ichabods as the squad finished in second place at the MIAA Fall Preview wrapping up on Tuesday at Meadowlark Hills Golf Club. Washburn will be back in action at the Midwest Classic at Mozingo Lake Golf Course in Maryville, Mo.
The Ichabods were led by
Susana Granados Carrion who finished in a tie for second after recording a 2-over score of 144 after her final round of three over. Carrion became the first women's golfer to record an eagle when she did so on the par 5, second hole of the course.
Angelina Borg-Malec tied for ninth overall with a 7-over 149. She had rounds of 74 and 75.
Keira Ronsick finished in a tie for 24
th after a final scorecard of 10-over 162 with a final day score of 77.
Allie Sullivan placed in a tie for 38
th after rounds of 6-over and 7-over for a two-day score of 155.
Aliyah North shaved three shots of her final 18 holes from the day before to finish in a tie for 71
st overall with a two-day score of 169 after scores of 86 and 83.
Playing as individuals,
Raegan Petersen (+18) finished in a tie for 51
st and
Lois Deeter (+27) finished in a tie for 71
st overall. Deeter climbed 13 spots up the leaderboard in her final round.
Central Missouri (591) won the team title by nine shots over the Ichabods at 23-over. Washburn, Rogers State and Nebraska-Kearney all tied for second overall at 32-over (600).
The individual title went to Shayla Nordlund from Fort Hays State who finished one shot ahead of Carrion at 1-over, 143 after shooting a final round of 1-under.
