MONKEY ISLAND, Okla. – The Washburn Women's Golf team opened play at the Spring Region Preview with a solid first round, sitting third overall through 18 holes. 

Ichabods sit in 3rd place and sit 5 shots back of the tournament leaders, Arkansas Tech, who rank 32nd in the country. 

Leading the way for Washburn, Keira Ronsick and Susana Granados Carrion are both tied for seventh after matching rounds of 1-over 73. 

Angelina Borg-Malec and Raegan Petersen are tied for 23rd after each posting rounds of 5-over 77. 

Rounding out the lineup, Aliyah North sits in 44th after an opening round of 7-over, with room to climb the leaderboard on day two.

The second round of the Firekeeper Open will begin Tuesday morning with another shotgun start at 8:30 AM CT.
