PITTSBURG, Kan. – The Washburn Ichabod multi-athletes opened up the 2025-26 Indoor track season with the pentathlon wrapping up on day one and the heptathlon completing the first four events of the day. The Ichabods will be in action at the Sneed Indoor Athletic Facility on Saturday as well as day two of the Boo Rogers Invitational and the Crimson and Gold Invitation both at Pittsburg State.
After the first day of the heptathlon, the Ichabods are 2-3 with three events remaining on Saturday. McGilton has 2,813 total points so far sitting in second place over and teammate
Judah Bowell is right behind, trailing by one point at 2,812 points. McGilton finished third in the 60m to open the day in a time of 7.03 tying a career-best and then he was fifth in the long jump (6.58m), fourth in the shot put (11.30m) for another career best and sixth in the high jump (1.84m).
Bowell finished 11
th in the 60m (7.37) followed by three second-place finishes in the long jump (6.76m), 11.66m in the shot put and 1.90m in the high jump.
In the pentathlon,
Naiuri Krein finished fourth overall tallying 3,693 points for an NCAA provisional mark. Krein finished third in the 60m hurdles (8.98), fifth in the high jump (1.58m), third in the shot put (12.56m), sixth in the long jump (5.25m) and fourth in the 800m (2:26.25).
Vera Gerasimova finished eighth overall recording 3,312 points - also an NCAA provisional mark. She finished sixth in the 60m hurdles (9.31), fifth in the high jump (1.58m), ninth in the shot put (9.49m), and seventh in the long jump (5.22m) and the 800m (2:34.47).
