GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- The Washburn Ichabod men's golf team used a second-round turnaround to secure a 5th-place finish at the Hot Dirt Desert Shootout on Friday, posting an even-par team score of 576 across 36 holes. The Ichabods have a short break before facing the same field of teams at the Stack Cougar-Burro Collegiate beginning on Sunday.Â
Marco Anderson and James Hill paced the Ichabods, finishing in a tie for 14th at 3-under with 36-hole scores of 141. Anderson opened the day with a first-round 1-under 71 before firing a second-round 70, totaling eight birdies on the day. Hill went 70-71 for the tournament, posting nine birdies.Â
Blake Saffell finished tied for 30th with a 1-over 145. Saffell opened his day with a 76 before improving seven shots in the second round with a 3-under 69, the lowest round by an Ichabod on the day.Â
Lane Workman placed in a tie for 40th, going 77-72 for a 5-over 149. Workman tallied eight birdies between his two rounds.Â
Zach Vandervoort finished tied for 62nd, posting rounds of 79 and 75 on the day.Â
Playing as an individual, Quinn Earwood also finished in a tie for 62nd, putting up rounds of 74 and 80.Â
The Ichabods shot a 6-under 282 as a team, tied for their lowest round of the year with their second round at the MSSU Fall Invitational from Sept. 23-24, 2024.Â
