GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- The Washburn Ichabod men's golf team completed its Arizona swing with an 8th-place finish at the Stack Cougar-Burro Collegiate on Tuesday. The Ichabods posted a 3-under 285 as a team in the third round, which was played at the Golf Club of Estrella. The Ichabods will return to Kansas for the FHSU Tiger Classic from March 31-April 1.
Blake Saffell posted the low round of the day for the Ichabods, firing a 4-under 68 to move into a solo 14th place for the tournament. Saffell made five birdies on the day with only one bogey to finish with an even-par 216 for the event.
Marco Anderson was the highest finisher on the leaderboard for Washburn, shooting a final-round 3-under 69 to tie for 9th place. Anderson made birdie at three of the four par-5s on the course.
Lane Workman finished the event with a 1-over 73 to tie for 68th place. Workman, who found three birdies in the round, improved eight strokes from his second-round score.
Zach Vandervoort posted a 3-over 75 to finish in a tie for 59th place. Vandervoort made back-to-back birdies at the 12th and 13th holes.
James Hill finished tied for 54th after a 4-over 76 in his final round. Hill made birdie at the par-4, 424-yard 6th hole in the round.
Playing as an individual, Quinn Earwood posted his lowest round of the tournament with a 1-over 73 to finish in a tie for 35th place. Earwood made birdies at the 8th and 17th holes with only three bogeys on the day.
As a team, the Ichabods finished with a 54-hole score of 887, one stroke behind 7th-place Stanislaus State. Colorado Christian claimed the team title in dominant fashion, posting a score of 831, 36 shots ahead of 2nd-place Colorado Mesa.
