KEARNEY, Neb. -- The Washburn Ichabod women's golf team battled both its conference opponents and the weather on Monday, posting a team score of 323 on a cool and windy day at the second round of the MIAA Golf Championships. The Ichabods, who finished the day in 6th place, wrap up competition at Meadowlark Hills Golf Club on Tuesday.
Susana Granados Carrion continues to lead the Ichabods, sitting in a tie for 11th place after posting a 9-over 80. Granados Carrion made birdie on her second-to-last hole, the par-3 17th hole.
Angelina Borg-Malec sits in a tie for 17th place after a round of 81. Borg-Malec played the first 14 holes of her round at only 2-over par, making birdie at the par-5, 458-yard 12th hole.
Keira Ronsick, fresh off an All-MIAA Honorable Mention selection, is tied for 21st after a 9-over 80. Ronsick closed her round with four consecutive pars.
Allie Sullivan finished the day tied for 33rd after a second-round 82. Sullivan led the Ichabods in birdies on the day, going under par at the 6th and 13th holes.
Aliyah North sits in a tie for 52nd place after a round of 88. North closed her round with a par at the par-4, 367-yard 18th hole.
Playing as an individual, Lois Deeter is tied for 60th after a round of 91. Deeter made three consecutive pars to begin the front nine.
With the wind picking up on the golf course, the average score in the second round at Meadowlark Hills was more than one stroke higher than in Sunday's first round. Only five teams posted better scores on Monday than on Sunday.
The Ichabods hold a three-stroke lead over 7th-place Missouri Southern. Washburn trails 4th-place Northwest Missouri by five shots.
Central Missouri moved into the lead on the second day, with the Jennies holding a nine-stroke advantage over Arkansas Fort-Smith heading into the final round.
