TOPEKA, Kan. - Washburn Women's Golf adds one to the 2026 class, welcoming Sydney Verdugo from La Habra Heights, California.
"Super happy to get Sydney signed to our women's team! She comes from a very competitive and athletic family with dad being a coach and sister playing college golf at Union," said Washburn Director of Golf
Ronnie McHenry. "Sydney has always played multiple sports and is very athletic, when she focuses on golf I think she will excel quickly. I know she will work hard and can't wait to add her to our roster."

Verdugo joins Washburn following a standout high school career at La Habra High School. She earned First Team All-Century Conference honors as a senior, was named team MVP and medalist, finished 12th at CIF Team, and qualified for both CIF Team and Individuals. A four-year letterwinner in golf, she was named Rookie of the Year as a freshman and Most Improved Player as a sophomore, with multiple top-three league finishes, including a runner-up finish her senior year.
Personal: The daughter of Carin and Cody Verdugo… has one brother, Davess, and two sisters, Brooklyn and Siena… plans on majoring in nursing.
