EMPORIA, Kan. – The Washburn Ichabod men's and track and field team got out to a great start on day one of the 2025 MIAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships as the multi-athletes took the main stage on Friday in Emporia. Day two of the championships will continue on Saturday.
 
Nairui Krein dominated Day 1 in the heptathlon, winning all four events and setting a school record and personal best in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.27. She also picked up wins in the high jump, shot put and 200m. The final three events will take place on Saturday.
 
Washburn's Drew McGilton sits in fourth place overall in the decathlon with 3,566 points, fueled by top-three finishes in the 100 meters, long jump, high jump, and 400 meters. After the first five events, teammates Judah Bowell and Bryce Schwerdtfeger sit in 8th and 10th.
