Jett Buck collects third All-American honor earning third team from ABCA/Rawlings

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Jett Buck collects his third All-American honor of the season as the Ichabod senior shortstop was named a third team selection by ABCA/Rawlings on Friday morning.  

The Kansas City, Mo. native becomes the second Washburn player to sweep the All-American awards joining John Calhoun in 2012 earning honors from Rawlings/ABCA along with the NCBWA and D2CCA.  

Buck started in all 53 games this season and leading the Ichabods with a .365 batting average, 21 home runs and 68 RBI. The Kansas City, Mo. native finished the season with a 1.178 OPS along with 18 doubles and three stolen bases. His season ranked third on the program all-time charts for both home runs and RBI while ranking fifth in SLG% at .757 and in hits with 81.     

He ranked 3rd in the MIAA and 11th nationally in home runs, 2nd in the conference and 42nd in the nation in hits and 3rd among MIAA players and 29th nationally in RBI.    

The ABCA/Rawlings All-America teams are selected by members of the ABCA All-America committees. ABCA/Rawlings All-Region First Team selections, which were announced Wednesday, were eligible for All-America honors. 

  

The Chair of the ABCA NCAA Div. II All-America & Coach of the Year Committee is Rudy Garbalosa of Lynn University. Also on the committee are Jim Gantt (Catawba College), Rick Giannetti (Dominican College), Dave Hajek (University of Colorado at Colorado Springs), Ryan Kelley (Wayne State University), Alex Koch (Wayne State College) and Marc Marizzaldi (Seton Hill University) and Tony Schifano (San Francisco State University). 

  

The ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove teams for all divisions will be announced on Wednesday, June 18. The ABCA NCAA Div. II Region All-Defensive teams will be announced on Thursday, June 19. 

  

ABCA/Rawlings National Pitchers and Position Players of the Year in all divisions will be announced on Monday, June 23.
