TOPEKA, Kan. -- Washburn's
Kyla Lochtefeld from Ichabod cross country and
Pavlos Parson from Ichabod tennis have been named the Hy-Vee Student-Athletes of the Week for action ending Sept. 29.
Kyla Lochtefeld led the way in her Ichabod debut finishing in fourth place out of 238 runners at the Gans Creek Classic in a time of 22:08.0 helping the team capture the team title in the 6K Open division on Friday. The Ichabods scored 81 team points to edge 20 other teams including four NCAA Division I programs and MIAA foes Central Missouri and Newman.
Pavlos Parson became the third straight Ichabod in a row and fifth overall to win the ITA Central Region Singles Championship after winning six straight matches over the weekend. Parson took down Harding's Adrian Solorzano in a come-from-behind effort winning in three sets, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 to claim the central region title.
