INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The No. 3 nationally ranked Washburn Ichabod men's basketball team was one of 10 Central Regional teams listed as under consideration for the NCAA Division II Tournament as the list was released in alphabetical order by the NCAA on Wednesday.
The No. 3-ranked Washburn Ichabods will finish off the regular season road portion of their schedule traveling to Oklahoma to face Central Oklahoma on Feb. 19 followed by Rogers State on Feb. 21. Washburn is 24-1 (14-1 MIAA) after rolling to a 78-54 win over Northeastern State last time out on Valentine's Day.
The Ichabods have the No. 1-ranked RPI number in the region as well as the No. 1 KPI.
Six of the schools in the initial rankings are from the MIAA with Washburn, Arkansas-Fort Smith, Central Missouri, Fort Hays State, Missouri Western and Rogers State. The Great American Conference has three with Ouachita Baptist, Oklahoma Baptist and Harding and the Northern Sun Conference has St. Cloud State.
A new set of rankings will be released next Wednesday, February 25.
The NCAA Central regional will be played on March 14, 15, and 17, with the highest-seeded team in the region serving as the host site.
