MAYETTA, Kan. - The Washburn Women's Golf Team won their first ever tournament at their first ever home event.
"What a week for the ladies! Unbelievable golf and to do it and pull out the win at home is hard to do," said Washburn Head Coach
Ronnie McHenry. "It was a full team effort, and happy for them to keep making history. This week will do a ton for us come postseason when the pressure rises."
The Ichabods took home their first-ever tournament title in the second year of the program, it was also their first time hosting a home event in program history as well.
Washburn won in a team playoff over MIAA Nebraska-Kearney as the Ichabods shot 1-under during the one playoff hole, the birdie made by Sophomore and Topeka native
Raegan Petersen.
Angelina Borg-Malec tied for third after she shot 5-over par over the 54-hole tournament, including shooting a final round 71(-1).
Susana Granados Carrion finished in 5th at +8, it's her fourth time this season with a top-5 finish and the sixth time in her Washburn career.
Keira Ronsick also finished in the top-10, where she tied for 9th at 11-over. She fired in a 71(-1) in round 2 yesterday.
Raegan Petersen finished tied for 27th at 28-over. She had back-to-back 78s.
Aliyah North finished t-44th, which included a final round 77(+5).
Individual
Allie Sullivan finished t-34th and tied for her fourth-best finish in her career as an Ichabod. She shot a 70(-2) in the final round.
Lois Deeter also played as an individual this week; she finished tied for 56th.

The Ichabods will be back in action next week, March 30-31 in Blue Springs, Mo. for the NSIC Preview at Adams Pointe Golf Club.
