PITTSBURG, Kan. - The Washburn Men's Golf Team turned in a strong performance at the Tommy Riggs Collegiate Invitational, finishing second overall in a competitive field.
"Great week for our guys in one of our MIAA conference tournaments, 2nd place against really good teams and only a few strokes behind UCO, who's a top 10 team in the country," said Director of Golf
Ronnie McHenry. "Guys battled tough course and weather conditions all week and never gave in. Our games are trending in the right direction at a great time of the year. Ready to be home next week at Firekeeper against a loaded field of teams."
The Ichabods finished with a 54-hole total of 33-over, placing behind tournament champion and No. 7-ranked Central Oklahoma (+26). Washburn also finished ahead of No. 29 Central Missouri and No. 38 Winona State.
Myles Tarvin finished third overall at 6-over after rounds of 74 in the final round, continuing his consistent play throughout the tournament.
Marco Anderson led the Ichabods with a fourth-place finish at 7-over. He capped off his tournament with an impressive final round 70 (-2), one of the lowest rounds of the day.
Jacob Fratzel also finished inside the top-10, tying for sixth at 9-over after a final round 74.
Brody Scafe finished 22nd at 14-over, while
Blake Buessing rounded out the Ichabod lineup in 48th at 19-over.
Jake Kolich, competing as an individual, placed 19th at 13-over.
