GOODYEAR, Ariz. - The Washburn Men's Golf Team finished the first day of the Maverick Desert Classic sitting in first.
"Great stuff from the guys, especially first tournament round out of winter," said Ichabod Head Coach
Ronnie McHenry. "A little bit of rust and we fix that and we can play with anyone. This team is also learning how good they can be if they can get everything to click. Big final round tomorrow with the target on your back. Will be good to see how they respond."
The Ichabods kicked off the tournament with a hot first round, where they made 22 birdies and three eagles in the opening 18 holes. They led the tournament at 9-under par and hold a four-shot lead heading into the final round tomorrow.
