Washburn Takes Second at MIAA Championships After Final Round Battle

WARRENSBURG, Mo. - The Washburn Ichabod Women's Golf Team takes runners-up at the MIAA Championships at Mules National Golf Club.

The Ichabods held a two-shot lead heading into today's final round and shot 22-over on day 3. They lost by two strokes to Nebraska-Kearney, who won the tournament at 67-over par. Washburn beat third place 34th ranked Rogers State by 14 shots.

Susana Granados Carrion was Washburn's highest finisher in program history with a tie for third place(+15), beating her and the program's best finish, where she took tied for fourth at last year's conference championships. 

Angelina Borg-Malec also finished inside the top-10 as the French native finished tied for 6th at 17-over par and 6-over for the final round.

The first-time in school history that two Washburn Women's golfers finished inside the top-10 at the MIAA Championships. 

Keira Ronsick & Aliyah North both had top-20 finishes with Ronsick tying for 14th & North finishing tied for 17th. Ronsick had the low Ichabod score on the day, shooting 74 in the Final Round.

Raegan Petersen finished tied for 23rd at 25-over par.

The second-time in program history that all Ichabods finished inside the top-25. The first time was at the Konzem-Capra Invitational, March 20-21, 2025, at Sycamore Ridge Golf Club.

Washburn will next look forward to the NCAA Regionals to see if they are selected to head to St. Joseph, Mo. that will start on May 4th.
