MAYETTA, Kan. – The Washburn Men's Golf team sits in second place heading into tomorrow's final round of the Men's Firekeeper Open at Firekeeper Golf Course.
The Ichabods sit in 2nd place with a team score of 2-over par and are 8 shots back of the tournament leaders, Central Oklahoma.
Myles Tarvin put together back-to-back under-par rounds, a 68(-4) in round one and a 69(-3) in the second set of 18 holes. Tarvin leads the tournament at 7-under and holds a one-shot lead over Central Oklahoma's Rhett Holmes heading into tomorrow's final round.
Jacob Fratzel is in 19th place heading into the final round at 2-over par, shooting back-to-back 73s.
Senior
Marco Anderson heads into the final round in 25th at +3. He birdied three straight holes on the back nine in round 2 to shoot a 73.
Rounding out the Ichabod lineup are
Blake Buessing &
Brody Scafe, who sit 37th and 68th heading into tomorrow.
Washburn's B lineup sits in 5th place, led by
Zachary Haydamack, who shot a 2-under par second round and sits in 19th.
Jake Kolich is tied for ninth with Washburn teammate
Michael Matteucci, Kolich eagled the par-5 4th in round 2.
Competing as individuals,
Drew Buchman sits in 38th place at 5-over par, while
James Hill,
Maddix Shook, and
Zach Vandervoort will look to improve their positioning in the final round.
The final round of the Firekeeper Open will begin Tuesday morning with a shotgun start at 9 AM CT.
