Washburn Men’s Golf Punches Ticket to Nationals

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. - The Washburn Men's Golf Team advanced to the NCAA National Championships Saturday evening.

The Ichabods started off the Final Round red shot, and after nine holes, they were 6-under as a team on the day and sit inside the top 4 comfortably, but on the back nine dropped some shots. The Ichabods advanced by a single shot and clinched the final spot in the Regional to advance to the National Championships May 18-22, in Boulder City, Nev. Washburn returns to the National tournament for the first time since 2023.

Blake Buessing & Jake Kolich both had the low score of 73 on the day for the Ichabods. Buessing finished tied for 28th, while Kolich tied for 33rd. 

Jacob Fratzel also tied Buessing for 28th after he shot a final-round score of 74(+2). 

Marco Anderson shot a 76 on day 3 of the NCAA Regionals; the South African finished in a tie for 64th.

Myles Tarvin finished tied for 17th, the best finish for the Ichabods on the week. He shot a Final Round 77. Tarvin shot a 33 on the front, which included 3 birdies and an eagle. 

The Ichabods will be joined in Nevada by MIAA foe Central Missouri, Missouri - St. Louis, and the Regional Champions Grand Valley State. 

UP NEXT
The Ichabods will head to Boulder City, Nevada for NCAA DII Men's Golf National Championships taking place at Boulder Creek Golf Club May 18th-22nd.
