HONOLULU - Three Ichabods scored in double figures but they shot just 35 percent as a team as they fell to Chaminade, 78-73 Thursday night in their final game in the Hoop N Surf Classic. Washburn (7-3) will now be off until December 29 when it resumes MIAA play at Missouri Western.
DeAndre Eggins led WU with 19 points and
Darnell Kimble had hist first double-double at Washburn with 18 points and a career-high 15 rebounds.
Paul Byers scored 11 points with three 3-point field goals.
The Ichabods shot just 29 percent in the first half and the Silverswords shot 40 percent but the Ichabods went into the locker room up 33-29. Both teams improved shooting in the second half with WU reaching 40 percent but CU shot 52 percent in the half and out-scored WU 49-40 for the five-point win.
Washburn ended up shooting 35 percent while CU was 47 percent. CU was 41 percent from 3-point range while the Ichabods were 31 percent. The two teams were even with 44 rebounds each and turnovers were close with CU committing 13 and WU having 12.
James Williams led WU with five assists and
Darnell Kimble blocked three shots.
Noah Gottlieb led Chaminade with 17 points and Ricky Clayborn had a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Notes
- WU is now 1-1 all-time against Chaminade in the second meeting between the two schools.

Darnell Kimble had his first double-double at Washburn with a career-high 15 rebounds. His previous career high for rebounds was nine against Pittsburg State on January 26, 2008. This was also his first game reaching double figures in rebounds.
