TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Washburn Ichabods advanced to the MIAA Tournament Championship with a 5-0 win over Emporia State. The Ichabods will face Southwest Baptist in the tournament finals.

Washburn opened the match with three wins in doubles and senior Rutger Vliegenberg returned to No. 1 doubles with teammate Andrew Plum taking an 8-5 win over Julian Rios and Kent Grossling. It was the first match played by Vliegenberg in two weeks after suffering an ankle injury.

Nathan Martin and Brad Johnston picked up an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles and Drew Hanson and Ryan Ward won at No. 3 doubles 8-1.

Vliegenberg won his match in singles play at No. 2 topping Grossling 6-3, 6-2 and Martin topped Nathan Mai 7-6, 6-3.
