Season Statistics
The Ichabods let a pair of early leads slip away as they lost 10-7 and 5-4 in an MIAA doubleheader Tuesday at Fort Hays State. Washburn fell to 9-18 and 6-14 in the MIAA and will continue its road trip with a four-game series at Northwest Missouri starting Friday at 3 p.m.
Game 1

The Ichabods jumped out to a 7-0 lead after an inning and a half but Fort Hays State scored 10 unanswered runs for a 10-7 win in game one of the doubleheader.
Wes Joy led off the game with a home run and was 2 for 4 with a pair of RBI.
Brian Gorges also homered and was 2 or 4 with three RBI.
Joe Hosey and Luis Beltran Lopez also each collected two hits.
The Ichabods scored twice in the first and five times in the second before the Tigers got on the board with two in the bottom of the second. They then added runs every inning until they tied the score in the fifth and then took the lead in the sixth.
Washburn starter
Zach Engelken worked all but one out in the game and gave up nine of the runs on 12 hits. He struck out seven with one walk.
Game 2

The Ichabods once again grabbed an early lead with runs in the first and second inning but the Tigers came back and won 5-4 to finish the sweep.
Gorges had another home run with a solo shot in the first and
Brett Sorensen had two hits and scored twice.
Washburn scored single runs in the first and second innings and then another in the fourth before the Tigers got to starter
Bryan Stroth with two runs in the fifth and one in the sixth to tie the game.
Calvin Iversen hit a solo home run in the seventh to give Washburn the lead again but FHSU tied it with four hits and a run in the eighth. Three singles by the Tigers plated the winning run in the bottom of the ninth.
Stroth went 7 1/3 innings and allowed four runs on 11 hits with three walks and three strikeouts.
J.P. Verhulst entered in relief in the eighth inning and then allowed the winning run in the ninth to suffer the loss.
