The Washburn Ichabods (12-8, 8-5 MIAA) look to keep pace in the upper-half of the MIAA standings when they host Truman on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in Lee Arena. The Ichabods have won their last two games coming off a 79-78 win over Missouri Western last time out. The Bulldogs fell 87-63 at Emporia State last time out and they have dropped their last four games.
 
Washburn won the first meeting back on Dec. 13 in Kirksville 66-58.

Washburn enters the game in a two-way tie for third in the conference standings with Emporia State.
Washburn's DeAndre Eggins is second in the MIAA with 17.5 points a game and he's scored in double figures in 14 straight.

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - DeAndre Eggins had 22 points as the Ichabods held off the Bulldogs, 66-58 Saturday night in MIAA action.
Eggins was 6 of 12 from the field and 3 of 5 from 3-point range, all off the bench. Darnell Kimble had nine points to lead the starters and Paul Byers led with eight rebounds.
The Ichabods shot a season-low 37 percent in the game while Truman (5-3, 0-3 MIAA) shot 34 percent.
Eggins and Mario Scott led WU with three assists each and WU blocked six shots with Kimble leading with three.
TSU out-rebounded WU 42-35 but turned the ball over 20 times while WU gave it away 15 times.

Washburn vs Truman Series History
• This is the 51st meeting between these two schools and Washburn holds a 34-16 lead in the series.
• The Ichabods have won the last four meetings by an average score of 66-56.
• The series dates back to 1956-57 and the two have played each other every year since 1989-90.
• Two of the lowest combined scoring games in WU history came against Truman recently. On January 13, 2007, the Bulldogs won 60-45 as they combined for 105 points, the second lowest scoring output since WU joined NCAA II in 1989-90. On January 19, 2008 they scored 109 points in a 59-50 WU win. That was the third lowest scoring game in DII history for WU.
• Washburn is 11-7 against the Bulldogs on the road and 25-9 in MIAA contests against TSU.

Ichabods hold off Griffons for one-point victory

Darnell Kimble scored 22 points and five Ichabods reached double figures as they held off Missouri Western Saturday night in Lee Arena. Washburn improved to 12-8 and 8-5 in the MIAA with its second straight win while the Griffons fell to 9-11 and 6-7 in the MIAA.
The Ichabods will stay home and host Truman Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
Kimble went 7 of 7 from the field and 8 of 9 from the free throw line. Logan Stutz and DeAndre Eggins had 14 each, Nate Daniels had 12 and Lekheythan Malone had 10. Daniels was 4 of 5 from the field with three 3-pointers.
Washburn shot 50 percent while MWSU was 45 percent. The Ichabods made 24 of 31 free throws for a 77 percent effort while the Griffons were 57 percent, making 8 of 14.
Kimble led WU with six rebounds and James Williams had six assists and no turnovers.
The Ichabods led the entire game. They took their largest lead, 11 points, at 9:35 of the first half and they were up, 43-40 at halftime. The Griffons got within a point 96 seconds into the second half but a dunk from Malone at 11:19 made it a double-digit lead again, 64-54.
MWSU once again closed in late in the game and a 3-pointer from Dominique Thuston made the score 79-78, WU with one minute remaining. The Griffons had a chance to win in the final seconds but a 3-point attempt failed to hit the rim as the shot clock expired and Washburn ran the remaining second off the clock for the win.

Ichabods continue stellar play in Lee Arena

The Ichabods started the year 6-0 at home and have since gone 2-1 for an 9-1 record at home. Washburn is out-scoring opponents by an average of 83-70 in Lee Arena. The Ichabods shoot 48 percent at home compared to 40 percent in away games.
Lekheythan Malone leads the Ichabods in Lee Arena with 15.7 points a game and he's shooting 54 percent at home. Paul Byers is a 47 percent shooter in home games and he's 47 percent from beyond the 3-point line (15 of 33).

Washburn unbeaten in midweek MIAA games

The Ichabods are 5-0 in midweek MIAA games this year with all the contests happening on Wednesdays. They are 4-0 in Lee Arena and their win Wednesday at NWMSU was their first midweek road trip in the MIAA. Washburn is balanced in the five games with six players averaging 8.0 points or more. DeAndre Eggins leads with 13.6 a game and overall, Washburn scores 81.0 while opponents score 71.8 a game. WU shoots 49 percent in midweek MIAA games.

Wednesday's meeting is the 51st meeting between the two schools. The Ichabods lead the all-time series 34-16 and have won the last three meetings. The Ichabods won the last 15 of the last 18 meetings after topping the Bulldogs 66-58 on Dec. 13 in Kirksville.

Following the game Truman on Feb. 4, Washburn will be returning to the road for another three-game road stretch which will take them to Fort Hays State on Feb. 7, Central Missouri on Feb. 11 and Southwest Baptist on Feb. 14. Washburn will return to Lee Arena playing host to Missouri Southern on Feb. 19. Washburn will make one more regular season road trip to Pittsburg State on Feb. 21 before wrapping up the regular season on Feb. 25 against Emporia State on senior night. The MIAA's regular season will wrap up on Feb. 28, but the Ichabods will have an “off night” as the other 10 schools will play their final regular season games. The MIAA Postseason Tournament will start on March 5.
