The Washburn Ichabods (13-8, 9-5 MIAA) aim to keep third place in the conference standings all to themselves as they travel to Fort Hays State to face the Tigers. The Tigers are one game back in the conference standings with an 8-5 mark and a 15-5 overall record. The Ichabods have won their last three games coming while coming off a 68-50 win over Truman last time out. The Tigers topped Missouri Western in St. Joseph 68-63.
The Ichabods are looking to halt a three-game losing slide in Hays not winning on the Tiger's homecourt since Nov. 28, 1998 in an 84-75 win.
The Ichabods will try to halt the MIAA's longest winning streak as the Tigers have won their last six games dating back to Jan. 10 when FHSU lost at Southwest Baptist.

Strong second half leads Ichabods to win over Fort Hays State

Washburn shot 64 percent in the second half and out-scored Fort Hays State by 14 points en route to an 82-66 win over the Tigers Wednesday afternoon in Lee Arena.
DeAndre Eggins led the Ichabods with 21 points as he was 5 of 9 from the field and 9 of 11 from the free throw line. Darnel Kimble scored 18 and
Mario Scott had 11.
Lekheythan Malone came off the bench to score nine points and lead the team with six rebounds.
Washburn led by just two, 34-32 at halftime and then a 3-pointer by FHSU to start the second half gave the Tigers a one-point lead. They led by three at the 16:17 and then Malone hit a jumper at 15:06 that gave the Ichabods the lead and sparked an 18-2 run.
Eggins scored eight points during that four-minute run and Malone scored five, capping the streak with a 3-pointer at 11:31 that made the score 58-43.
The Ichabods shot 64 percent in the second half (14 of 22) and out-scored FHSU, 48-34 in the half. They shot 52 percent in the game, 50 from 3-point range and 74 percent from the free throw line.
FHSU shot 39 percent in the game and was led by Tyrone Evans with 22 points. Tim Peinter had 19 points and 10 rebounds.

Ichabods win third straight in victory over Bulldogs

TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Washburn Ichabods won their third straight game and their fourth in a row over Truman in a 68-50 win over the Bulldogs Wednesday night in Lee Arena.
The Ichabods fell behind 8-2 to Truman (6-5, 1-13 MIAA) as the Bulldogs and held the lead up until a 3-pointer by
Steve Feighny which put Washburn up 16-15 with 11:29 to play in the first half. Truman responded with back-to-back layups and a 3-pointer by of their own regaining the lead while stretching it to a 22-17 margin. The Bulldogs pulled out to a 26-19 lead with 4:46 to play in the half, before Washburn held Truman without a field goal for the final 4:46 of the half while going on a 7-0 run and took the lead on a dunk by
Darnell Kimble with 1:59 to play in the stanza.
The Ichabods kept the pressure on the Bulldogs holding Truman without a field goal until the 13:26 mark of the second half totaling more than 10 minutes without a point from the field when Vesko Filchev broke the drought with 13:26 to play in the game and Washburn holding a 34-31 lead.
Washburn put together a 20-9 run over the next six minutes to take a 57-40 lead. Truman would get no closer than 13 the rest of the way.
DeAndre Eggins took game-high honors with 13 points. Kimble recorded his second double double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Covier Carter also had 10 points. Brandon Griffin led Truman with 10 points and nine rebounds.
The Ichabods were 22 of 55 for the game (.400) while Truman was 18 of 48 (.375). Washburn also held a 43 to 28 advantage on the glass.
Ichabods continue stellar play in Lee Arena
The Ichabods started the year 6-0 at home and have since gone 4-1 for an 10-1 record at home. Washburn is out-scoring opponents by an average of 83 to 70 in Lee Arena. The Ichabods shoot 48 percent at home compared to 40 percent in away games.
Washburn unbeaten in midweek MIAA games
The Ichabods are 6-0 in midweek MIAA games this year with all the contests happening on Wednesdays. They are 5-0 in Lee Arena and their win Wednesday at NWMSU was their first midweek road trip in the MIAA. Washburn is balanced in the five games with six players averaging 8.0 points or more.
DeAndre Eggins leads with 13.6 a game and overall, Washburn scores 81.0 while opponents score 71.8 a game. WU shoots 49 percent in midweek MIAA games.
