TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Washburn Ichabod basketball team improved to 3-0 with a home-opening 92-66 win over Peru State on Monday night on Schendel Court at Lee Arena.Â
The Ichabods led from start to finish as four starters reached double figures led by
Stephon Drane and
Christian Ulsaker who each had 15 to tie for game-high honors.
Alex North recorded his second-straight double double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Washburn led 38-29 at the half after shooting 41 percent, but they were outshot by the Bobcats who hit 11 of 23 shots in the opening half. In the second half, the Ichabods improved to a blistering 59 percent from field hitting 23 of 39 shots to finish at 50 percent from the field for the game.
The game was tied early at 12-12 before the ichabods would go on an 18-7 run over the next 7:22 to put the game out of reach. Washburn would lead by as many as 30 in the game at 82-52 with 5:04 left in the match.
Washburn had a 50 to 33 advantage on the glass outscoring 52 to 30 in the paint. Washburn also forced 15 turnovers turning those miscues into 21 points.

 Last Time Out For Kansas Wesleyan
(Nov. 14) SALINA, Kan. --Playing their sixth game in 14 days, the Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes were unable to come up with a victory over the Central Christian Tigers on Thursday night at Mabee Arena. The Tigers were victorious over the Coyotes 85-69.Â
Wesleyan struggled to find the bucket all night, shooting just 31.8 percent from the field for the game, while wasn't much better shooting from the field, but was much better at the line where the biggest difference in the game was. Wesleyan connected on just 65.7 percent of its foul shots while Central Christian hit 81 percent of its charities.
 Central Christian built an 8-3 lead with 17:13 to go in the first half, but the Coyotes would come back to tie things up at 10-all on a three-point play by Jacob Lunz. Central Christian would maintain its lead until Dylan Hidalgo's free throws with 10:24 to go in the half put the Coyotes up 18-16. A three by Hidalgo pushed the Coyotes' lead out to five points at 21-16 with 9:07 to go.
Daniel Nwosuh hit a three for Central Christian to give the Tigers the lead back with 6:55 to go in the half and the Tigers would build as much as a seven-point lead with 4:45 to go before the Coyotes got four straight points by Dane Brinker to get within three with 3:45 left.
The Tigers would take a 10-point lead into the half on Michael Gholston's three with 33 seconds left before the half.
Central Christian opened the second half pushing its lead to 19 points at 53-37 with 14:47 to go. The Coyotes fought back, cutting the Tigers' lead to seven points with 7:36 to go on a bucket by Brinker.
Forced to foul, the Coyotes saw Central Christian pull away late to come away with the 85-69 win.
Aaron Miller had 28 points to lead all scorers in the game for Central Christian, who remained unbeaten at 6-0 on the season.
Wesleyan was 21-of-68 from the field for 31.8 percent and had four players reach double figures led by Brock Borovetz with 13 points off the bench. The Coyotes were just 4-of-23 from 3-point range and 23-of-35 from the line. Michael Johnson led the Coyotes with seven rebounds.
 Last Meeting With Kansas Wesleyan
Nov. 20, 2010 -- TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Washburn Ichabods improved to 2-0 on the season tying a school record with 15 3-pointers in a 99-52 win over Kansas Wesleyan.
The Ichabods jumped out to a 7-0 lead to start the game with four points coming from Nate Daniels under two minutes into the game, but Kansas Wesleyan would cut the lead to three at 9-6 on a 3-pointer by Trevor Kuhlman, who led the Coyotes with 17 points on the night. However three straight 3-pointers by Daniels, Virgil Philistin and Jadarren Mumpfield followed by back-to-back jumpers in the paint by Brandon Scaife pushed the Ichabods out to a 22-6 lead with 13:34 to go in the game and Washburn would not look back.Â
The Ichabods stretched the lead to as many as 25 in the first half using a blistering 65 percent shooting performance hitting 11 of 19 3-point attempts in the opening 20 minutes. The Ichabods finished the half 22 of 34 with 18 assists while turning the ball over only four times.
In the second half the Ichabods continued the hot shooting connecting on 18 of 33 shots for a 55 percent average while holding the Coyotes to 5 of 20 from the field (3 of 7 from 3-point range) in Ichabod 47 point win.
Jeff Reid led the Ichabods off the bench with 17 points hitting 5 of 8 3-pointers on the night going 6 of 8 from the field overall. Daniels and Mumpfield each had 15 and Philistin finished with 14. De'Andre Washington had seven points with six rebounds and five assists. Scaife finished with a team-high seven rebounds.
The Ichabods finished the game hitting 40 of 67 shots for a 60 percent average while hitting 15 of 33 3-pointers in the game. It was the third time in school history the Ichabods had hit 15 in a game and the first since Jan. 9, 2008 when Washburn hit 15 at Emporia State.
Washburn outscored the Coyotes 48 to 14 in the paint while holding a 24 to 2 advantage in fast break points. The Ichabods also forced 26 turnovers leading to 37 Ichabod points.

The Ichabods did not receive any votes in the preseason NABC Top 25 coaches poll which was released on Nov. 11. The Ichabods have been in the top 25 a total of 98 times since joining the NCAA ranks and they have been voted in the top 10 a total of 51 times since the 1989-90 season.Â
