BALDWIN, Kan. – Ichabod women's JV basketball (1-2) fall to Labette Community College, 64-52. Ichabods had a strong first half but could not hold off the Cardinals in the second.
Washburn led the No. 3 ranked NJCAA D2, Labette CC, 31-28 after one half. Ichabods ability to get to the free throw kept them in the game. Washburn went 16-for-21 for 76 percent from the charity stripe.
However, the game got away from Washburn in the second as the Cardinals outscored the Ichabods 36 to 21. Washburn struggled on the boards grabbing just 33 rebounds compared to the Cardinals 54.
Washburn leaders:
- Lakyn Schieferecke led the Ichabods with 16 points while going 4-for-12 from the field and 8-for-9 at the free throw line
- Chloe Carter grabbed the most rebounds with eight along with scoring 11 points. Raegan Wells was right behind her with six rebounds
- Maddy Hutley, Jaden Newfarmer, Wells, and Carter each had one steal
Washburn women's JV basketball are back in action Tuesday at Kansas City Kansas Community College. Tip-off set for 5 p.m.
