KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Washburn men's JV picked up it's first win of the season Tuesday night with a 71-65 victory over Avila University.  

The Ichabods were able to build a lead in the first half to hold on to defeat the Eagles. Washburn led 43-25 at the break and were able to withstand cold shooting after halftime. In the first 20 minutes Stavian Jones led Washburn's offense, scoring 16 points in the first half and knocking down four 3-pointers.  

After halftime, Cameron Heiman and Isaiah Breyman each scored eight points to keep Avila at bay. Washburn was unable to knock down a 3-pointer in the second half but held on to win 71-65.  

Stavian Jones finished with 22 points to lead the Ichabods. Cameron Heiman and Josh Jamison each added 15 points, and Isaiah Breyman finished with 12.  

The Eagled were led in scoring by Josh Kilpatrick who had a game-high 28 points, Jonathan Cosby also added 11 for Avila in the loss.
