KANSAS, CITY, MO. -- Washburn continued its winning ways Monday night with a start-to-finish win over Avila University, 76-57.
The Ichabods fourth win in a row came with a hot start shooting the ball, leading to a 16-3 advantage. The Eagles were able to battle back and make it a single digit game at the half, 38-29.
In the final 20 minutes Washburn was able to push the lead up to double digits early and keep it there for the remainder of the game. Avila was held scoreless for a five-minute stretch which allowed the Ichabods to go on an 11-0 run resulting in a 23-point lead in the final seven minutes.
The deficit remained comfortable for Washburn the remainder of the way before winning 76-57.
Kevin Eman led the Ichabods with 21 points, he was one of four players in double figures. Josh Jamison scored 13 points, Cameron Heiman had 12 and Stavian Jones had 11 off the bench.
The Eagles were led by Marcus Reid and Spencer Wolf, each with 22 points.
Washburn stays on the road, taking on Johnson County Community College on Dec. 6, at 7:30 p.m.
