OVERLAND PARK, KAN. -- Washburn men's JV fell in a high-scoring road contest on the road against Johnson County Community College, losing 111-75.
After evening the score at 7-7 early on the Ichabods fell behind a Cavaliers offense that was clicking on all cylinders. At the break Washburn trailed JCCC 50-29 with 10 players scoring for Johnson County.
Out of halftime the Ichabods' offense picked up, but so did the Cavaliers. In the final 20 minutes both teams scored a combined 107 points. Washburn cut the deficit down to just 17 early in the second half but was never able to get it lower than that.
Johnson County shot 63.9% from the floor in the second half en route to the 111-75 victory.
The Ichabods were led in scoring by Kevin Eman who had 22 points on 8-13 shooting. Stavian Jones knocked down four 3-pointers on his way to 20 off the bench. Isaiah Braynen and Cameron Heiman added 11 and 10 respectively.
As a team Washburn was outrebounded 36-18 but did knock down 10 3-pointers compared to only six for the Cavaliers. As a team the Ichabods shot 49.1% from the field and 47.6% from deep.
JCCC had four scorers in double figures, led by Tymer Jackson who had 20 points on 7-10 shooting.
Washburn returns to Lee Arena for its final home game Dec. 7 at 7:00 p.m. against Ottawa University JV.
