Ichabod women's track and field team has strong showing at SBU Invite

BOLIVAR, Mo. – The Washburn Ichabod women's track and field team wrapped up the Southwest Baptist Invitational with 10 top-five finishes, 19 personal bests and two school records on Saturday as well as adding NCAA two provisional qualifying marks.
 
Virgi Scardanzan won the pole vault for the second-straight week clearing an NCAA provisional mark of 4.15m tying for the best mark in the Division II ranks this season. Tassilyn Bolin recorded a personal best with a second-place showing in the event with an NCAA provisional mark of 3.75m.
 
Paola Castaldi finished second in the hammer throw and broke her own Washburn record for the second-straight weekend with a mark of 48.59m.
 
Isabella Hohl finished second in the 100m in a time of 11.79 breaking her own school record of 11.87.
 
Shelby Edwards was second in the javelin with a throw of 41.87m.
 
Taylor Gonzales (1500m) and Eve Weber (3000m steeplechase) both had third-place finishes as did the 4x400m relay team of Isabella Hohl, Darian Hillebert, Lyndsay Stinson, Chia Okoro.
 
Overall the women's team finished with 70.50 total points placing fifth. Missouri State (83.00), Southwest Baptist (79.50), Missouri Southern (77.00) and Lincoln (75.00) rounded out the top five teams.
 
Washburn is scheduled to be in action next week at the Woodman Classic at Wichita State.
