TOPEKA, Kan. – The Washburn Ichabod women's track and field team racked up three event winners along with two school records, four NCAA provisional marks and 17 personal bests on Saturday at the Washburn Indoor Athletic Facility as the team opened the 2023 calendar year with the Washburn Rust Buster.
 
Lily Johnson had the trifecta in the mile run breaking the school record, the facility record and the meet record in a time of 4:59.17 winning the event besting the previous record of 4:59.51.
 
Isabella Hohl won both the 60m prelims and the finals with NCAA provisional marks taking the prelim in a time of 7.50 and then winning the finals in a time of 7.44.
 
Kim Smith recorded an NCAA provisional time winning the long jump with a mark of 5.66m (18-07.00).
 
Shanice Hutson finished second in the shot put with shattering the school record by 23 inches with a mark of 14.00m (45-11.25) also recording an NCAA provisional mark and a personal best.
 
Overall the Ichabods had 11 top-five finishes on the day.
 
The Ichabods will return to action next weekend at the Pittsburg State Invitational.
