The Washburn Ichabods men's and women's track teams will take part in the MIAA Indoor Championships this weekend in Pittsburg, Kan.
Who's competing
There will be 11 men's team competing and 12 women's team competing in Pittsburg.
ICHABODS AT THE MIAA INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Ichabod men's team best finish in six previous MIAA Indoor Track and Field Championships was eighth in 2022 and 2018.

The Ichabods have had four individual champions at the MIAA meet.
The Ichabod women's team best finish was eighth in each of the last two seasons in 2022 and 2021.
Sierra Mortensen is the only Ichabod to win an individual title when she won the 5000m run in 2018. Overall the Ichabod women have had one first-team all-MIAA, three second-team all-MIAA and two third-team all-MIAA selections by finishing in the top three of their event.

LAST TIME OUT FOR THE ICHABODS - Feb. 10-11 at the Washburn Open
(Women) TOPEKA, Kan. – The Washburn Ichabod women's track and field team wrapped up the home slate at the Washburn Indoor Athletic Facility in a big way with five school records, five NCAA provisional marks and 14 personal bests and four individual champions.
Isabella Hohl won the 60m with an NCAA provisional time of 7.46 and then won the 200m in a time of 24.58 breaking her old school record of 24.74 with a mark of 24.58 with another NCAA provisional mark.
Lily Johnson broke her own school record in the mile with a time of 4:55.07 snapping her previous best of 4:59.17 winning the event as well.
In the weight throw,
Adriel Holloway finished second overall with a mark of 17.23m (56-06.50) crushing the previous school record of 15.99m (53-11.00). Her mark was also an NCAA provisional and a personal best.
Kim Smith won the long jump with a mark of 5.83m (19-01.50) breaking the school record in the process with a personal best and an NCAA provisional mark. The previous school mark was 5.72m (18-09.25).
Rachael Mayberry won the pole vault with a mark of 3.62m (11-10.50)
Lexie Fontaine snapped the school record in the 800m with a time of 2:16.18 breaking the previous mark of 2:19.46 finishing fourth.
(Men) TOPEKA, Kan. – The Washburn Ichabod men's track and field team recorded 17 personal bests with two NCAA provisional marks, a school record and three individual champions on day two of the Ichabod Invitational.
Wyatt Heiman broke his school record in the 60m after winning both the prelims and the finals. He marked up a time in the prelims with a showing of 6.89 and then in the finals put up a time of 6.80 topping his school record of 6.82. The time was an NCAA provisional mark as well.
The Ichabods went 1-2 in the long jump with
Josh Hopkins setting a meet record with a mark of 7.48m (24-06.50) setting a personal best and an NCAA provisional mark.
Connor Last finished second in the long jump at 7.44m (24-05.00) with an NCAA provisional mark.
USTFCCCA Rankings
The Washburn Ichabod men's team is ranked 47th in the nation and 13th in the region in the fifth polls of the 2023 indoor track and field season. The women's squad is ranked 43rd nationally and ninth in the region.
USTFCCCA EVENT SQUAD Rankings
The Washburn Ichabod women's pole vault squad is ranked seventh in the nation while the 60m team is 22nd, the 400m crew is 19th, and the 200m team is 30th overall with the shot put group ranked 13th and the weight throw group ranked 18th.
On the men's side, the 60m team at 14th, the men's pole vaulters are ranked 22nd with the 200m group at 23rd.
MIAA PRESEASON POLLS
Both the Ichabod men's and women's track and field teams were picked eighth by the league coaches in the preseason poll released on Dec. 1 by the MIAA office.
COACHING
Cameron Babb has led both the Ichabod track and field teams and cross country teams to steady improvements entering year six of the revamped programs. Between cross country and the track and field programs, Babb has coached 64 all-MIAA selections, 49 all-region picks, 33 All-Americans and 51 NCAA Championship individual qualifiers and one relay team.
