LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Washburn ichabod men's and women's track and field team wrapped up its first day of action in California bringing back a combined eight NCAA provisional marks and four-top 10 finishes in the star-studded event. Action for both teams continue on Friday in California as well as select distance runners for the Ichabods who will be in action at the UCM Mule Relays in Warrensburg.
 
Josh Hopkins had the best individual showing for the men's squad as he placed fifth in the long jump with a mark of 7.42m (24-04.25) for an NCAA provisional mark.
 
Jordan Dale finished eighth in the high jump clearing a height of 2.01m (6-07.00) and Wyatt Heiman took eighth in the 200m in a personal best time of 21.34.
 
On the women's side, Isabella Hohl finished 10^th in the 100m with an NCAA provisional time of 11.76.
 
Tassilyn Bolin was 20^th in the pole vault with an NCAA provisional mark of 3.76m (12-04.00) while Shanice Hutson was 25^th in the shot put with a throw of 14.24m (48-08.75) for an NCAA provisional mark.
 
Paola Castaldi was 25^th in the hammer throw with a mark of 52.79m (173-02) for an NCAA provisional mark.
 
 
Azusa Pacific – Bryan Clay Invitational
Washburn's only entry at the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific in the heptathlon was Nairui Krein. After four events in the women's heptathlon Krein is in eighth place overall with 2,826 points trailing the leader by 443 points entering Friday's second day.
 
Krein took first place in the shot put with a mark of 12.18m earning 673 points. She was eighth in the 200m run while placing 11^th in the high jump and 15^th in the 100m hurdles.
