Ichabods wrap up NCAA Championship with 3 more All-American awards

PUEBLO, Colo. – The Washburn Ichabod men's and women's track and field team wrapped up the 2022-23 athletic season on day three of the NCAA Championships with three Ichabods earning second-team All-American honors led by Justice Akinmoladun's ninth-place finish in the shot put, Jordan Dale's 11th-place finish in the high jump and Shanice Hutson's 12th-place finish in the shot put.
 
On Saturday's final day of action, Akinmoladun finished ninth earning his first second-team All-America honors after throwing for a mark of 17.48m (57-04.25). He reached that mark on his third throw moving him for 17th overall to the finals giving him three more attempts.
 
Dale finished 11th in the high jump clearing 2.04m (6-08.25) before bowing out at 2.09m. Alessandro Di Gregorio finished 14th overall after clearing the same 2.04m but fell on overall misses.
 
Hutson finished 12th in the shot put with a mark of 14.48m (47-06.25), her best throw of the day. Hutson picked up two second-team All-America honors in her first NCAA Championship appearance.
 
Making her school-record (male or female) seventh NCAA appearance, Rachael Mayberry finished 19th in the pole vault. Her finishing height was 3.70m (12-01.50).

Overall, the Ichabod men's and women's teams are returning with nine All-America winners. Braden Rose brought back first-team honors in the discus and second-team honors in the hammer throw, Isabella Hohl with second-team accolades in the 100m, Mitch Miller with a second-team honor in the discus and both Ilaria Villa and Hutson earning second-team honors in the discus finishing ninth and 10th respectively.
